The SINCGARS RT-1439 Non-Integrated COMSEC radio was the first SINCGARS Combat Net Radio produced that will replaced the older VRC-12 series radios. In addition to the features identified above, this radio required an external KY-57 COMSEC device to encrypt the traffic message being transmitted over the air. These radios were initially fielded to US forces in KOREA, Hawaii, and Japan.
